Milkshakes Anytime: Friday Favorite Things and an Update!

Shew!? What a week!? My 12 year old went back to school this week, so waking up at 6:30 again is kicking my rear end.? I am a natural night owl, as are my children, so during summer we stay up until midnight and sleep until 9 or 10.? It is lovely.? Oh, well....back to reality!? Here is a bit of a wrap up of our week and some favorite things (or in the case of this week, favorite news!)

1.? Yesterday was my birthday.? I don't generally get too excited about birthdays anymore, other than seeing all my extended family when they join us to celebrate.? Last night, my little one had Meet the Teacher (or Meet the Creature as my son calls it - lol), so we are celebrating tonight.? My parents and my aunt and uncle always take the entire extended family out for my birthday, so we are going to our local Japanese Hibachi place to get our fun on.? Have to admit, I choose Japanese Hibachi every year because the kids love it so much and it's so fun to see them have such a great time.? Hoping hubby may feel up to his first outing.? Fingers crossed!

2.? Speaking of my other half, he has his first follow up appointment with his surgeon today since leaving the hospital.? I am anxious to hear what the Doctor thinks of his progress because I think he is doing just super! (if you are looking for posts detailing his surgery, please look for posts labeled bilateral knee replacement)

3.? Remember this post about this sweet boy looking for a forever family?? Praise the Lord from Whom all blessings flow..a family has stepped forward to adopt him.? They are currently in the paperwork process.? Please pray for them and you can follow their story here!

4.? My son's Bible course this year is a study of Proverbs.? This week's memory verse was Proverbs 1:7.? As he was reciting it to me, it really hit me how powerful this one little verse truly is.? Here is the version from The Message Bible: ?Start with caps;">God?the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.I am so ashamed of the many times I have thumbed my nose at the teachings of God.? I could have saved myself so much pain and difficulty.? I know shame is not of God as I am fully redeemed and sanctified once born again.? It is, however, a human emotion I continue to battle as I reflect upon how often I have failed God even though he has never even once failed me.? I pray this year long study of Proverbs will be so beneficial for my son, and he will bury its truths deep in his heart.

5. Finally, I "pinned" this list of 35 random acts of kindness from Tickles to Giggles.? Such an amazing compilation of small ways to show appreciation to those around you.? Check it out and consider choosing a few ways to pay it forward.? Can't wait to hear which ones you try out!

I lied...one last thing...shameless sharing of my very cute daughter swimming during our last days of summer break.? Have a super weekend!??
