Apple is supposedly already working on a new iPad mini that will apparently have a display with an higher resolution. The screen resolution has been the main area of criticism that the iPad mini has received and it looks like it could be rectified in the next release cycle. The news comes from sources who have been talking to randomly accurate site Digitimes.
The sources have yet to specify whether the device will use Apple's Retina Display technology to enhanced resolution, but market observers said it is highly likely based on the development of past Apple products such as the iPhone and 9.7-inch iPad series.
The same sources also claim that Apple is working hard to create a new iPad with a 9.7-inch display but it will be much lighter. Again this is an area that the new iPad has received a lot of criticism as it can be uncomfortable to hold one handed for long periods of time; such as when reading.
Meanwhile, the sources also said that Apple will restructure the lighting of the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad from two LED light bars to one in order to decrease the device's overall weight.
The two rumors are hardly earth shattering and to be honest the two areas are well known flaws that Apple will no doubt address in future iPad and iPad mini releases. The question is, can it be done on time and at a reasonable cost for the next release schedule or will we have to wait longer than another year for an iPad mini with Retina and a slimmer lighter new iPad?
